Luneng Yosemite Luxury Villa

Vertical Modern courtyard

Luneng Yosemite Luxury Villa, designed by Kuang Ming Chou and Garvin Hung, is a unique residential project that draws inspiration from the Chinese idiom "Tao Kuang Yang Hui," which means "hide one's light under a bushel." The concept behind the design is to embrace luxury in a humble and harmonious way. The villa exemplifies the idea that true luxury lies within, rather than being displayed externally. The retreat-like atmosphere of the villa allows residents to eliminate external distractions and enjoy a visually clean and serene space.

The Luneng Yosemite Luxury Villa stands out from other residential designs due to its emphasis on creating a space that is appropriate for all family members. The designers believe that a home should cater to the needs of every individual while also fostering a sense of connection among family members. By incorporating elements of traditional Chinese courtyard architecture, the villa provides private spaces that are interconnected, promoting communication and togetherness.

The realization of the design involved the use of high-quality furniture and decoration from renowned brands such as Giorgetti, Ceccotti, Henge, SHANGXIA, Cassina, Tom Dixon, Ligne roset, B&B, Zanotta, Minotti, and Boca Do Lobo. The lighting design features fixtures from Flos, Henge, Ceccotti, Modernica, Veronese, Lolli e Memmoli, Established& Sons, Foscarini, Bacarrat, Nemo, Ivano Redaelli, OLUCE, and Ingo Maurer. The materials used include wooden finishes, leather finishes covered with fabric, marble, wooden floors, and stainless steel versions. The villa also showcases artwork from various artists, including Elena Osuna.

The Luneng Yosemite Luxury Villa is a testament to the fusion of different cultures and the translation of traditional Chinese concepts into a modern living space. It aims to express and create a Chinese modern lifestyle that is relevant in today's complicated and busy society.

The project, located in Beijing, China, began in November 2015 and was completed in November 2016. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research on Chinese contemporary living and reflected on the differences between tradition and modernity.

One of the main challenges faced by the designers was how to translate traditional Chinese courtyard architecture into a modern interpretation that suits the needs of a busy modern city. The design successfully achieved this by creating a space that promotes communication and connection, just like the traditional courtyard did in the past.

The Luneng Yosemite Luxury Villa, designed by Kuang Ming Chou and Garvin Hung, is a remarkable residential project that combines luxury, functionality, and cultural elements. It has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2017. This award acknowledges designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills while contributing to quality of life improvements.
